Global warming, the coming epic struggle for water, mass migration, war, and genocide - Our web of life
Presenter: John Veneruso
Populated areas of the world are becoming arid, stricken by the worsening drought, and faster mountain snow melt. Global warming in the next three decades is predicted to impact humanity far more than environment and war have during the past 150 years when over 100 million people died from famine. In our near future, the failure of Himalayan snow melt will push 600 million people into famine; in Africa, an increase in excessively hot days and reduction in rain will push 240 million into famine; and in China drought and desertification will require that over 20% of their food is imported from places unknown. What actions should we take now to avoid global warming induced famine, genocide, and war?
