How many migrants should the USA and other countries admit? What should be the criteria for admission? How much of what kind of support should countries provide for their legal — and illegal — new arrivals? Should countries spend more on helping arriving migrants or on alleviating the conditions in their home countries that cause them to migrate? How should we prioritize working on migration issues vs. working on domestic social issues?
And, once the USA has admitted a person, why must they often need an immigration lawyer to help them obtain a green card and understand what rights and responsibilities they gain — and don’t gain — once they have a green card?
Many questions. Many opinions. We’ll consider all of them.
