3rd Friday Discussion Group

We’ll meet in person in person Friday, September 15, at 11 a.m. at Off the Vine Bistro, 2865 Dulles Avenue, Missouri City, 77459. Coffee, water, and lemonade will be provided. Lunch, wine, and other beverages can be ordered from the menu.
We’ll celebrate No More Zoom (and other complications even Jules Verne didn’t imagine) by discussing Science Fiction & Us. How has this genre affected each of us and our society? What sci fi books most affected you — and when and why? How do sci fi speculations about, say, colonizing Mars, affect resource allocations today? Inspiration for this topic came from the last section of a Time magazine article mostly about Elon Musk and Tesla. Here’s the link to the entire article: https://time.com/6203815/elon-musk-flaws-billionaire-visions/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=sfmc&utm_campaign=newsletter+brief+default+ac&utm_content=+++20220808+++body&et_rid=207467408&lctg=207467408
