Flower Ceremony / Charter Sunday Celebration / Mothers Day
Intergenerational service led by member Betty Johnson
2023 marks the centennial for the Flower Ceremony, first imaged by Unitarian Universalist minister Norbert Capek of Prague, Czechoslovakia. Often referred to as Flower Communion, the ritual celebrates the beauty of diversity in nature, as well as our spiritual community. In the intergenerational ceremony, held at Thoreau annually on Mothers Day, everyone is invited to bring a flower to build our altar bouquet. Each person will take home a different flower than the one they brought. Mothers Day is also Thoreau’s anniversary, or Charter Sunday, so join us for an all-around day of celebration!
Join us in-person or via Facebook Live as for our weekly gathering.
During in-person worship service, a childcare nursery is available for those under 5. You are invited to join us for hospitality after the service.
