Sunday Celebration / Adult Discussion

27 Nov – “Climate Colonialism” To be held at 11 am in the sanctuary.

Presented by Betty Johnson

What do colonialism and climate change have to do with one another? We’ll study the relationship by looking at the example of Barbados, an island country with soaring national debt that both results from and inhibits their ability to protect themselves from climate disasters. We will also look at other examples where the burdens of the climate crisis and other environmental mismanagement fall on people who did the least to create the damage. Is there is role for reparations - specifically to help countries adapt to climate change?
