Sunday Celebration / Adult Discussion

Our summer ADG series : COOL Summer Discussions / TalkBack

July 30 – The Ku Klux Klan and the Awkwardness of Evil

Timothy Egan's recent release, A Fever in the Heartland, is the topic of this discussion brought to us by Garna Christian. Egan again offers the opportunity to view a familiar subject through a fresh lens. He traces the rise and fall of David C. Stephenson and the Klan in the Midwest of the 1920s. In the larger context of this most American terrorist group, can the periodic appearances of the KKK through history be explained by standard socio-economic factors or is something more sinister lurking in the fabric of our society.

June 25th to July 30th we will meet in Thoreau’s Sanctuary at 11AM for Talkback Service.

Talkback Service is a moderated group discussion, which begins with a presentation of 15-20 minutes, followed by Q&A.

Discussions are open to all young adult and adult members, friends, and visitors.

During Talkback Sunday Service, Religious Exploration is offered for children 5 and over, and childcare is available for children under 5.

Children will not start out in the service, but rather go straight to the Clark Cabin.

You are invited to join us for coffee and light snacks after Service.

Masks are now optional.
